Who is this Curtis?

Curtis Farr is a deacon in The Episcopal Church, a seminarian at Saint Nicholas Episcopal Church in Darnestown, Maryland, and a student at Virginia Theological Seminary.

On June 3rd, Curtis will become the assistant rector of St. James’s Episcopal Church in West Hartford, Connecticut.

Originally from Washington State, he went to Washington State University for a Bachelor’s Degree in English, spent one year in Ecuador teaching English, and then transitioned to seminary in Alexandria, Virginia.

He is passionate about playing the piano and loves accompanying friends with vocal talents of their own. If he is perfectly honest, Billy Joel is the only reason he kept taking piano lessons for ten years, and he hopes to be in a cover band one day.

On the Myers Briggs, he is an INFP. On the Enneagram, he is a Loyalist (with an observer wing). He is gay and loves spending time with his boyfriend, Antonio Rocha—a photographer of Antonio Rocha Photography. Curtis loves writing, blogging, people-watching, exercising, cooking, wine-tasting, food-eating, and coffee-drinking.

He is ordained a deacon, but continues to seek ordination as a priest in the Episcopal Church, so you can imagine that he finds importance and value in principles that are defined by God (love, justice, and mercy) and believes in sharing the reconciliatory message of Jesus Christ with the world.

If you are preparing for marriage or wish to develop skills for your relationship, he is also a licensed Prepare/Enrich relationship counseling facilitator.

Two quotations have been very important in his life. The first in his later adolescence as he reconciled with his sexuality and the second in all kinds of relationships.

“We make ourselves real by telling the truth.” -Thomas Merton

“We only learn to love by loving.” -Iris Murdoch

That reveals a bit about Curtis, and the blog reveals much more. Thanks for visiting, and feel free to ask Curtis a question…if you’re so inspired.

Peace be with you.
