The end of courtship?

Instead of dinner-and-a-movie, which seems as obsolete as a rotary phone, they rendezvous over phone texts, Facebook posts, instant messages and other “non-dates” that are leaving a generation confused about how to land a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Just so I am clear, it’s a new trend that young people are confused about how to “land a boyfriend or girlfriend”? And you know, eventually (even if it begins online or via text message) they are going to have to meet and get to know each other.
